Quickies for the weekend
I’ve always loved Tim Ferriss’ “Five-Bullet Friday” so I’m stealing that format for today’s newsletter. I hope you’re having a good day!
I have installed a night vision camera to keep watch on the kittens. This way I can check in on them without disturbing them (or making the mama scamper away in fright). Here’s the fun part… you can see the cam too! You just need an app for your phone called Wyze. It’s free. Just respond to this email and I can send you an invite to view the cam. Unfortunately there’s not a simple way to share the cam on the web… it involves installing beta firmware, enabling RTSP, feeding the RTSP stream from the local network to the web, and then I’m not sure what that does to my home WiFi’s bandwidth, and even typing this sentence is making me tired.
We have so much content these days… I’ll try to help out with curation as often as I can. I recommend the television shows Ted Lasso and Dickinson. For documentaries, the Hungarian film Collective. I recently read the novel Anxious People by Fredrik Backman which I loved, and I’m really enjoying Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro so far. Check out a comic book called The Wicked + The Divine. For an old movie… The Bridge on the River Kwai. For a new one, my husband Eric loved Raya and the Last Dragon, and I highly recommend watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League split up as a miniseries rather than sitting down to watch it all at once. You know what I don’t have recommendations for? Music! Let me know what you’re loving right now (besides “Drivers License”)!
Okay not to brag, but this TikTok that I made mashing up two songs might be my greatest artistic achivement.
And since I’ve inveigled you to watch a TikTok video, let’s double down… this quick montage of mini-basketball highlights is so much fun… it’s a combination of the choreography, the dashing protagonist, and the outsized confidence.
Eric and I are going to “Taste of Universal” today… will report back next week on it. We get to choose 5 food items from the various restaurants at the theme park. Am I allowed to get 5 Butterbeers? What would my endocrinologist say?!
Heya! If you’re enjoying these newsletters, feel free to forward them to someone that might like my writing. Unearthing more subscribers is the best way for you to help me out!
